CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION
MAIBA's CLE Committee coordinates the organization's continuing legal
education programs. MAIBA has sponsored several CLEs over the years,
including a presentation by renowned Indian law Professor Rennard
Srickland, a legislative update for MAIBA members, two day-long
seminars co-sponsored by the William Mitchell College of Law, and
several panels on the treatment of tribal court judgments in state
courts. The CLE committee's chair is Reid LeBeau (rrlebeau@locklaw.com).

THE STUDENT RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE
The Student Recruitment Committee was established to address the issues faced by American Indian Students applying to law school. The Minnesota American Indian Bar Association is concerned about the decline in American Indian enrollment in law school and has developed this committee to coordinate with schools, students, and potential students to encourage the application and enrollment of Native Students. Mary Jo Brooks Hunter is the chair of the committee and can be reached at Mhunter@gw.hamline.edu.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
The Scholarship Committee creates scholarship applications,
disseminates scholarship information, and recommends scholarship
recipients to the Board. MAIBA's Scholarship Committee is chaired by Catherine LaRoque, and she can be reached at catherine@icwlc.org.
STUDENT RELATIONS
The Student Relations Committee is MAIBA's formal connection to Indian
law students in Minnesota, as well as to non-Indian students interested
in Indian law. Each fall, the Student Relations Committee
organizes a reception for those students at one of the three area law
schools. The Student Relations Committee is chaired by Philomena Matus, and she can be reached at babiwash@gmail.com.

SOCIAL EVENTS
The Social Events Committee is charged with promoting camaraderie among
members through fun and productive events. This year, the Social
Events Committee hosted a summer barbecue and a holiday
celebration. In addition, the committee presented members with the opportunity for an annual retreat. The committee hopes to once again achieve these objectives and strengthen the ties among members. The Social Committee is chaired by Tonya Long (tlong@midmnlegal).
